This is the main HEPA filter cartridge for the NSS Sidewinder 27 B Battery Charged Sweeper Part 63-9-3461. The filter is designed to capture particles from escaping the vacuum cleaner, and being exhausted back into the air.
The Filter is one of the main components of the machine. To maintain peak performance, it's very important to do the maintenance, including replacing the filter on a regular basis.
NSS recommends replacing the filter after 200 hours of use, but if you start to notice dust accumulating on the machine when in operation, this could indicate that the filter is clogged and the motor is unable to exhaust the air properly. You should unplug the machine, and remove the filter, which is enclosed inside of the filter shaker. The lever that snaps the filter cover into the machine and secures it, is also used as a way to clean the filter. Use the lever to go up and down the filter, unclogging any large particles 4 or 5 times.
Aside from using the Filter Shaker Lever to clean the filter, you should periodically use a high pressure air compressor to clean the smaller particles which the filter shaker lever can not do. Doing this on a monthly basis will drastically prolong the life of your vacuum cleaner, in between replacing it every 200 hours.
