The new Dyson DC35 Cordless Digital Slim, Cordless, Bagless Stick Vacuum & Hand Vacuum Combo claims to be the most powerful cordless vacuum on the market (according to Dyson themselves).   With a 22 Volt rechargeable battery, the machine definitely has the largest voltage battery out of any cordless vacuums on the market today.  

With a motorized cleaning head, the Dyson DC-35 Multi-Floor can be used to clean bare surface floors, as well as light, in between cleanings of carpeting or rugs.  Be careful however when vacuuming wood floors with a high gloss, or other delicate soft bare floors which are susceptible of scratching, as the Dyson DC35 uses a hard plastic "Ball" wheel, which can scratch or gouge soft, high gloss floors, such as wood floors, or marble floors.  

When taking the machine home to test it, I found that the machine performs well when used in the MAX mode.   The MAX mode is a power boost, which drastically increases the suction power of the machine, however limits the cleaning time per battery charge to only 6 minutes, hardly enough time to clean even the smallest of kitchens or bathrooms.  

When removing the stick, or wand portion of the vacuum to use as a hand vacuum, I found the machine to be very heavy on my wrist, and after cleaning only one flight of 6 stairs, my wrist was already starting to become fatigued.  

The machine's only filter is a pre-motor filter, which is designed to capture large particles from going into the Root Cyclone, or motor, and is recommended to be washed every 30 days for maximum performance.   Just make sure the filter is completely air-dried before using again, as using a wet filter may cause serious, permanent damage to your Dyson's motor.  

The Dust bin was much smaller then other cordless stick vacuums on the market, and during our testing clogged, and needed to be emptied before we could even finish (video coming soon) the comparison.  Other models we tested, including the Hoover Linx Cordless Stick Vacuum, Eureka 96B, and the Oreck AV-701B had no problem cleaning the different types of dirt and debris without needing to be emptied, however the Dyson got only half of the mess before becoming clogged, and making a pulsating noise, which according to the owners manual is indicative of the machine needing to be emptied.  

Owners of the Dyson DC-16 Root Hand Vacuum will be familiar with the style and feel of the DC-35 Multi-Floor, as the two machines are nearly identical, with the DC35 only adding the ability to easily clean floors.  

All in all, the machine did pickup very well when in the Max mode, but the limited cleaning time (6 minutes), and the small bin capacity (less then .10 of a gallon), and the lackluster cleaning performance on the normal cleaning speed, and strain on my wrist when using the machine as a hand vacuum, turned me off of the machine.  As our comparison video will show, the Hoover Linx Cordless Stick Vacuum did a much better job of deep cleaning carpets, and also has a longer battery life then the Dyson did.  

If you are a current Dyson DC16 Hand Vac owner, and like your current Dyson, then you will definitely like the new Dyson DC35 for quick, in between cleanings on floors, if not you probably might consider looking at spending half the price of the Dyson and getting a good Hand Vacuum, and a Good Stick Vacuum for the price you would pay for the DC-35 Multi-Floor.
