This deluxe Rug and Floor Tool comes with Miele canisters in their S200i and S300i series which do not include a carpet nozzle with revolving brush roll. It is designed as a combination tool with a top mounted lever to switch between carpets and bare floors. For bare floors, a brush strip around the perimeter pops out to provide a soft, non-scratching brushing action. Notches along the front allow dirt to easily enter the nozzle. For carpets and rugs, the brush strip is recessed, allowing the channeled steel sole plate to contact the carpet, pulling air through the nap to clean it.This tool has a rather unique design, being 11.5" wide and 4" deep, with a multi-joined elbow and roller assembly. A heavy duty rubber roller is positioned at the base of the elbow, carrying the weight and downward pressure of the wand. A special pivot enables the nozzle itself to self-adjust to the carpet height or bare floor while keeping level at all times. The elbow has a vertical pivot which adjusts to a wide range of wand angles, effortlessly adjusting to your personal stature. It even pivots sideways like most floor tools for cleaning under low furniture.A tab on the back of the elbow enables this tool, the wand and hose to be held by the parking slot on the back or side of the Miele canisters. This is an earlier version of the SBD 285-2 floor nozzle shown above, having one tab on the elbow, a more narrow wheel and floor selection rocker switch and two more shallow air channels in the steel sole plate.
